About JCharMap

JCharMap is a character viewer. It is mostly a clone of the gucharmap utility.

JCharMap is written in Java and works on all platforms. Unlike gucharmap, the data for the characters is not hard‐coded, but is read directly from the Unicode Character Database. Thus, when characters are added to the Unicode Standard, you won’t need to wait for a new version of JCharMap to be released in order to see them.

Fonts

There is no font currently available which supports every character in the Unicode Standard. However, JCharMap will combine all the fonts on your system in an attempt to have the most complete support possible. To maximize your character coverage, some fonts you should consider installing are:
